Bone Trust Grant Guidelines

John D. Bone Memorial Trust Application Form

J.D. Bone Memorial Trust Grant

Through the generosity of the Bone family, we were very pleased to make available another Grant this year of $1500.00 to an organisation for a gardening activity.

Mr. J.D. (John David) Bone worked in the family business of W. Bone & Sons Nursery that was at the forefront of the growing, promotion and supply of celery seedlings throughout Victoria.

Last year we awarded the grant to Ringwood Community Garden in Wantirna to build a pathway to allow for access to their raised garden bed area.  The pathway has enabled further usage of the site by groups with limited mobility and/or physical impairment with walking frames or wheelchairs to access the raised garden beds.

Please find following the guidelines for the J.D. Bone Trust Grant.

Bone Trust Grant Guidelines:

A Grant of $1500.00 will be awarded to an organisation that the Committee of Management of the Horticultural Therapy Association of Victoria (HTAV) determine as the most deserving and applicable.  A plaque will be provided by the HTAV to be displayed as appropriate.

Applications to the J.D. Bone Trust should meet the following criteria:
1.
The project / program is to be gardening related to help people incorporating horticultural therapy philosophies, based in Victoria

2.      Involves or promotes gardening activities The Grant could be used for garden design, raised beds, sensory garden, healing garden areas, sails for weather protection, gazebo, shade house / hot house, potting benches etc. Projects that would not be considered may include for example a garden or garden arch purely for decoration only - not a tactile, interactive area.)

3       If it is a new project, that will require maintenance, is there someone to provide it so that the risk of becoming run down and unused is minimised

4       Project needs to be completed within six (6) months where possible (not a long term project)

5.      Not to be used for religious or political purposes

6.      The grant is not to be used for normal administration / operational funding purposes and not to be used for budget deficits

7.      The payment of the Grant is conditional upon the money being used solely for the purpose specified in the application

8.      It needs to be a perpetual / lasting project – ie. not a one-off / one day event / payment of wages etc
